Virginia Liu is an artist based in St. Louis, Missouri, and Austin, Texas. She received her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently pursuing an MFA at Washington University in St. Louis. Her work explores the complexities of identity, personal history, and cultural displacement within a globalized world, drawing from a rich tapestry of influences, including Oriental legends, folklore, ornamentation, and contemporary pop culture.
Liu integrates elements of traditional Eastern art with contemporary Western aesthetics, delving into the intricate dynamics of multiculturalism and the immigrant experience. Her vibrant, colorful, and layered compositions, featuring symbolic objects, offer a unique commentary on the convergence of Eastern and Western aesthetics, reflecting both the playfulness and underlying complexities of modern society.​​​​​​​
